Springtime in West Virginia

Ahhhhhh….what a gorgeous day! Yesterday dawned bright and crisp and by late afternoon, it was 80°!!! It just doesn’t get any better than that. While we could have gone out and about, we elected to save the gas money for the travel we’ll be doing later in the spring and summer. Mr. FixIt finished hooking up the electric jack on the Big Birdhouse and piddled around a bit outside. We had a small bottle of bleach in the tool bin in the Little Birdhouse last summer and the road vibrations caused the cap to loosen and leak. The result was this weird corrosion on anything metal which included the manual crank for the jack in case of power failure. He spend quite a bit of time sanding it down and cleaning it up.

We got the big extension ladder out and I climbed up to take the Christmas wreath down. I also replaced the halogen bulb in the floodlight. Mr. FixIt was my spotter. His balance is not reliable since his strokes so there’s no more climbing ladders for him. I’m still quite strong and steady. I won’t go too high, but this was fine. We were both very careful. It’s farm life…what can I say?

We had a fingernail moon last night and it was still 72° well after dark, so I headed out to the camper for the night. I always invite my sweetheart, but again…he doesn’t really see the point if we are parked 100 feet from the house. That’s ok…he doesn’t mind if I go out. It gives me a little quiet time in the camper and always feels like a cozy getaway. I brought out my knitting and was happy as a little clam. I finished a mitten and got a lot done on its mate.

As we lead up to the anniversary of Mr. Virgo’s death, I want to revisit some of my posts surrounding that time in my life. I mentioned premonitions in my post yesterday and someone wanted to hear more about that. Here is a post about what I experienced leading up to his death. It’s from the year after he passed.
