There is something special about sunsets. For me, they are a gift from God. A reward after a good day. A gift of comfort after a bad one, with the reassurance there is still beauty in the world. I’ve been getting a lot of gifts from God lately. A beautiful bouquet of white flowers, dinner with a friend, Old Mama Kitty rubbing on my legs and purring her heart out when I feed her, quiet mornings on the farm sipping my coffee and watching wild turkeys running up the road. Yesterday morning, I looked up in time to catch a bald eagle flying overhead. It was a fleeting glimpse, but I’m sure that’s what it was. Such beauty in the world.
The yard needs mowed out at the farm. The thing about West Virginia, more rain equals more grass. The neighbor down the way mows for my aunt but only once a month. By that time, the place really needs a brush hog run over it. I bought a gas powered trimmer yesterday to run around my camper and to use at the farm. There’s a mower up in the barn that I’m going to check out and see if I can get running. Mowing is good exercise and it will look nicer. And, it feels good to work hard and see the results of your efforts. Hard work never hurt anybody, or so said my grandma.
