I was sitting in my favorite rocker by the front window last night, thinking about what to write about for this morning’s post. A friend’s name popped in my head and I looked back in my “messages” only to discover it has been five weeks since we last chatted. I wrote her a lengthy note to see how she was doing and filled her in on what’s been happening here. Between traveling for two weeks, my friend’s funeral in Cincinnati, and my wreck…time has warped on me. It’s like the clock face in this picture…a Dali-esque trip down Alice’s rabbit hole. Still…things must get done around here.
I drove over to the closest Ace Home Center yesterday. I’m driving like a 90-year-old, by the way. Every car I pass, my mind does a quick mental calculation of approximate g-force my chest would receive if, God forbid, there should be another airbag incident. I’m hoping that improves with time. Time in a real sense, not this twisty perception that 1/29 was a couple of days ago. I went to Ace for a new ventless gas wall heater for the bathroom. The one in there is at least 50 years old…maybe more. It keeps letting off a loud pop every now and then and it is causing concern in the night. I don’t need any more concern in the night than I already have so the quickest way around that is a new stove. Fortunately, I have guy friends who know about these pesky little things like plumbing gas lines and can fix it for me. I can do many, many fixit projects but I do not mess with gas…period.
My big project next week is to go through the things I took out of my truck after the accident. For simplicity’s sake, I threw the stuff in black plastic garbage bags and stuck them in the cellar house. They can’t stay in there long or they’ll be ruined with mildew so out they’ll come…one bag at a time to be sorted and either cleaned and put away or tossed. At least the weather is supposed to be warmer so it won’t seem like such a chore.
I’d much rather be hooking up TOW-Wanda and going for an adventure but that has to wait for wheels to tow her with. That’s still up in the air. Oh…patience has never been one of my virtues! ❤️
“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
