I’ve been following the tiny house movement for years. This weekend, I joined 15,000 other enthusiasts (including Susie, one of our fellow Marshmallow Ranchers) in Colorado Springs for the Tiny House Jamboree. I met some pretty neat people…like Scout, who teaches women how to build their own tiny homes. Interestingly, I left with mixed feelings. There weren’t many of these little lovelies displayed that I would live in, which really surprised, and dismayed, me. Part of it could have been the fact you had to stand in line for half an hour in the hot sun to get a quick 60 second look inside one so I really couldn’t sit and get a feel for the space. The one that I have absolutely coveted all these years made me claustrophobic just walking in the door. The doors were extremely narrow which didn’t help with that Alice in Wonderland feeling of being too large for your space. That being said, I wasn’t totally put off by having one of these babies of my own. I’d just have to design it myself so that it suits me. I could see having one of these in Colorado so when I come visit, I wouldn’t have to lug TOW-Wanda across the country.
It was really fun meeting Susie. She came on board when the guest blog post came out on the Tiny House Blog. If the people I have met in person through Marshmallow Ranch are any indication, you all are an awesome group! We walked all over the Jamboree, went to lunch at a tea room, and visited her gorgeous home in the hills surrounding Monument. We found we have so many things in common, which I hazard to guess would be the case with most of us Ranchers. I’ve certainly found my tribe.
