Not a BIG catch, but fun nonetheless.
Mr. FixIt’s prescription finally arrived and we picked it up on the THIRD trip to Walmart! The upside of that is we got to have breakfast at our favorite pancake place…Stack ‘Em High! It is SO good and it was a splurge on my food plan, but I worked around it by sacrificing the bacon and having grits instead of hash-browns.

We came back to the camper packed a picnic lunch and went to the old bridge at the Oregon Inlet to fish. They built a new bridge a couple of years ago and left a good section of the old one as a pier to fish from. Poor Mr. FixIt was so patient but he wasn’t having any success. The man next to us was using live bait and was pulling in stripers that were 25” to 26” long. They were beauties. But, like I told my sweetheart, there’s never a bad day fishing at the beach!
The guy next to us caught two good sized stripers and threw them back.
The sun was getting lower in the sky and we were thrown into the shadow of the new bridge. Even though the temp was in the 60’s, that wind off the sound got pretty chilly without the sun’s rays to warm you. We were about ready to leave when Mr. FixIt decided to “cast just one more time!” And sure enough…he caught a couple fish. They were pretty small and of course he threw them back. But it was enough to put a smile on his face!

We were going to watch the sunset but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and, while it was pretty…it just wasn’t picturesque. We decided to come “home” and cook some supper. I made a pork roast hash and we had it with a little Duke’s Moonshine Barbecue Sauce which was SO good. I really blew the calorie budget yesterday but we have to treat ourselves once in a while or we feel deprived. I was at a new low yesterday morning…I’ve now lost just shy of 29 pounds! I love NOOM! I’ve learned so much about myself and my relationship with food.
I knitted while Mr. FixIt was fishing. I’m almost finished with a pair of socks that I started in April. I just don’t have time to sit and knit in the summer. Especially this year. I keep envisioning long days on the beach sitting with my knitting while my sweetheart feeds the fishies, but so far it’s been mostly running around trying to get this prescription fixed. Maybe now we can REALLY relax! I think we’re going to get together with the kids today. That’s always fun!
