OMGosh…what a great campground! We are nestled in amongst the sand dunes in a very narrow part of the island. We cannot see the ocean from our camper, but we can see the sunset over the sound…just not right on the water. It’s so beautiful. We found the perfect place to watch the sunset right across the road from the campground.
We drove through quite a bit of rain on our way down here but just as I was backing the camper into our spot, it stopped. By the time we had everything unhitched and hooked up, the sun was shining. We had to make a decision…go over the dunes and see the ocean, or go across the road and watch the sunset. Those rain clouds were still hanging around so we opted to gamble on a beautiful sunset. It did not disappoint!
It was pretty stuffy Friday night so we slept with the air conditioner going. It killed two birds with one stone…it cooled it down for better sleeping AND it drowned out a lot of the noise from the other campers. That campground was packed. This one is, as well. With Columbus Day on Monday, there are a lot of campers out and about with their kids. We were so happy to see a huge number of Boy Scouts camping this weekend right across from us. There must be 20-25 of them plus their Leaders. They were having so much fun playing organized games when we first got here. But as soon as it got dark, they were quiet as church mice. Good kids.
Mr. FixIt, Jr., his wife, a nephew, and their friends are renting a beach house several miles south of us this week. We are really looking forward to spending some time with them on the beach fishing and playing corn hole. I brought my knitting with me. I kinda like being this far down on the island…there is very little commercialization down here. Less distraction. Less chance of spending money. Just peace and quiet. It’s heavenly. And now…I can rest for a whole week!

“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great. There go the ships, and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it.”
Psalm 104:24-26 ESV
