Don’t forget to look up when you’re out in the woods!
When a camper is the right fit…when the weather is picture perfect…when the park isn’t crowded…when you’re with your best mate…when the stars align and the owls hoot on cue and the whippoorwill calls…when the chairs are comfy and the tea is hot in the mug…when the stitches are on your needles and the sweater is coming together…when the leaves are beginning to turn and there’s just the faintest whiff of campfire smoke in the air…when it is cool enough for a sweatshirt and leggings and an extra blanket on the bed…when you hate to pack up and want to stay another day and another. Well, when you have all that and more, you can honestly say you’re onto something here. This is the camper we’ve been looking for…hoping for…wishing for!
Thank you, God. Thank you, Jayco. Thank you, Elizabeth. Thank you, Coleen. Thank you, Union Trades.
And last, but not least….Thank you, Mr. FixIt! You always make my adventures more fun!
We got home by 5-ish after running several errands on the way. We stopped at Menard’s in Athens and returned these two small lanterns with battery powered fans. We thought they’d be perfect by the bed. But they made WAY too much noise so they had to go back. I picked up a couple camper things there. We stopped at the Rest Area just off the interstate and dumped the tanks. Then we headed to the RV Parts & Supplies store and picked up a new anode rod for the hot water heater. And a wrench to remove the sewer hose once it’s attached to the camper. I had the worst time trying to take it off at the dump station. Then we went to Walmart and bought some of those cloth baskets for organizing our personal items like clothing and toiletries.
We parked the camper at the end of the house, plugged it in, and I grilled burgers for supper. As soon as we were finished eating, I came out to the camper to stretch out and there I stayed.
Waiting at our door…a Praying Mantis.
It was a long day…and a great getaway. The kind of getaway where you aren’t sure what day it is and you really don’t care! We head out again on Monday but till then, there will be mowing and knitting and all manner of things to do as the summer wanes.
Today would have been my dear friend’s birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Sparky. I hope you get to celebrate with your parents and your sister and have all the cake you want! I sure miss you.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.””
