We’re Building an Ark!

This creek runs along the border of our property.

Hokey Smokes, y’all! I have seen hard rain before. I rode out a storm in a camper one time at Myrtle Beach that lasted a week and dumped 25” of rain. We had one heck of a rain storm yesterday and received at least two inches of rain. Mr. FixIt came in and said I should go down to the creek and see how high it was. Both creeks were roaring. We are at the mouth of the holler and the bottom of a big hill. Gravity is not our friend when it comes to drainage around here.

Poor Mr. FixIt was watching the drain at the bottom of the outdoor staircase that goes to the basement. Every fifteen minutes he went out with the headlamp to see if the pump was dumping water out in the yard and if the water level was going down in the drain. It finally let up around 8:00 with intermittent light rain showers predicted during the night. Hopefully he won’t be up all night worrying about the drain. It’s been doing a lot better the last few years, but when we have really high water, it covers the drain opening where our roof water drains into the creek and that backs things up. Ahhhh, the hazards of living in the country.

I worked on a lot of different projects yesterday. I was up a lot earlier than my sweetheart so I cleaned up the living room and put some of my finished projects and supplies away. Then I settled in with my cuppa RYZE and worked on the cross-stitch sampler for a couple of hours. By the time Mr. FixIt got up, I was working on the computer. I have all the arrangements made for our trip to the beach later this month. Mr. FixIt Jr is going to be at the beach the week before us, so we made arrangements to go a couple of days early so we can fish together the day before they leave. Fun times ahead!

I did a little knitting on the striped socks and made big progress downloading all those photos to my external hard drive. That on top of making Chicken Alfredo for supper! Yummmmm! Ok…don’t be too impressed. I deboned what was left of the rotisserie chicken, mixed it with a jar of Bertolucci Alfredo Sauce and poured it over spaghetti. Bon Appetit!

The redbuds are blooming!

I told Mr. FixIt they shouldn’t give us old folks that memory test where they ask you what day it is. It isn’t fair. Every day is Saturday when you’re retired!

”Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.“

Zechariah 10:1 NIV
