Our campground from the dunes.
I discovered the sun comes right over the dunes and in my window in the camper and that was the end of sleep for me. But I didn’t mind. I laid there and listened to the faint sounds of the ocean waves and caught the chattering of a Boat-Tail Grackle nearby. The campground was still quiet and peaceful. The Boy Scouts across the road were just starting to move about and the welcome smell of frying bacon and coffee drifted along the row of tents and campers.
Camphorweed…a member of the aster family.
It wasn’t long before camper after camper was pulling out and heading home from their weekend at the beach. Sad-faced children pouted as their parents shuffled them along. They waved goodbye to the new friends they made on vacation. It took me back to those days when I went away to summer camp or I visited my cousins. I hated to go back home.
The dreaded sand burr. Who remembers having your mom pull these out of your feet? Ugh!
I whipped up some sausage and French Toast for breakfast and we sat at the picnic table, soaking up the sun. After the dishes were done, we drove up to Walmart for one last ditch effort to see if Mr. FixIt’s prescription came in and it did not. While we were there, we picked up a few things we needed to install the new cell phone booster. When we got back, I got everything put together and did a before an after speed test. Wowza!!! This thing tripled my download speed! So I’ll call that a big win!
Our new cell booster tower!
Mr. FixIt got his fishing gear put together and I finished cleaning up and organizing from my morning projects and it was time to start supper. I fixed Gail’s Cabbage Roll Casserole. It was SO good. I used the leftover spaghetti sauce I made on Friday. I was telling Mr. FixIt, I think I would rather have this than having the sauce over pasta…and it’s a lot less calories, too.
The waves were pretty big yesterday!
After supper and the dishes were done yet again, we went for a walk through the dunes and out on the beach. Some of you may have seen the live video I took of the surf. What beautiful shades of blue! We hurried back to the camper so we could drive over and catch the sunset on the sound side. It was downright blustery out there. I forgot to take a jacket and I was freezing. I fixed us a nice cup of tea when we got back to the camper and that was the end of the most perfect day.

“Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord of hosts is his name:”
