“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 NIV
Wow…I don’t know how I could possibly top yesterday’s wonderful response to the news of our upcoming wedding. Thank you all so, so much for your kind words, your genuine joy, and certainly for all the prayers you offer me. They worked! All day long, my phone would send me a notification saying someone else had responded to my post and it really made my day.
As I sat down to organize my day over coffee on the front porch, my calendar reminded me the wedding is three weeks away. Two weeks and six days now, to be precise! I started gathering addresses for invitations, but I was worried people would be making plans. So, I texted a lot of people with a picture of the invite and prefaced it with…”Well…THIS is happening!” I have almost all the invitations addressed…all but Mr. FixIt’s list. Moving right along!
We want a very simple, country wedding. Low key, comfortable yet still a little classy. I really wanted to do this at the farm. This farmhouse would be such a beautiful backdrop. We discussed it and decided there’s really only room for cars…or people. Not both. We decided to have the wedding in the big field over at Mr. FixIt’s house. The trees should be at their peak that weekend. We’ll have a tent down by the creek and it will be lovely.
In keeping with my “Stories, not Stuff” theme, we are keeping this low cost. I mean, really…the whole thing is supposed to be about our love for each other, not a bunch of fussy foo-foo stuff. I’m not going to share all the details beforehand because there has to be an element of surprise. I will tell you this. I went online to print our invitations and when I saw how much it cost, I thought I could do much better using a local printer. I’m pretty good with graphics, so I got the invitation set up, sent it of to Mr. FixIt to get his opinion, then sent it via email to Office Depot. Fifty invitations with envelopes and rush delivery was over $100 online. Office Depot? Less than $20…including envelopes…and I was out the door in twenty minutes. Score!
After sitting scrunched over the desk all afternoon…pen in hand, I went on a walkabout and took a picture of those flowers I was telling you about the other day. They have faded out to more of a pink color now. Anyone have any idea what this is? They’re one of the last flowers here at the farm. It’s gotten cool and we are due for rain for a few days. Fall is officially here! ❤️

You make me smile! It’s great when a Sister finds happiness,. My Mr. Edd and I married on the front porch of his family home, the family decorated a farm wagon with paper flowers and tin cans pulled by the farm pet, Homer, the donkey. A day to remember. Married 20 years and widowed for seven now! Praise God I have found SOTF!

This is wonderful news! I wish you continuing happiness!

I think think those beautiful pink flowers might be in the aster family–Monte Casino—or some spelling close to that! Congratulations on your fantastic news. Be happy.

I am so happy for you and Mr Fixit, that you two will be happy forever, to travel and to continue to bless all on your travels. Even if to grocery store.
Love your post, your words that seem just for me to get through a day.
God Bless you and Mr Fixit

Ginny!
You make me ?‼️
You saved so much on your invites and now you need to treat yourself!
The picture of the sweet little daisy like flowers, I don’t know if they will still be around in 3 weeks but those beautiful ferns under them should be.
Go around and fine some beautiful greenery and snap some photos. You can take them to the florist and she can order the flowers you’d love from a greenhouse. Then a few days before the big day go and cut your greenery to add to your bouquet or any other arrangements you may be wanting.
So excited for you!!!!
