When we find ourselves navigating rough waters, it’s easy to start feeling helpless and it’s not a long stretch to hopeless and worthless. The path behind us may have felt much lighter than the rocky road ahead and you may wonder how you will ever navigate this new world. If that’s happening to you, know God is always with you and he’ll never leave you.

You aren’t alone…you are precious!

When it’s difficult to find the motivation to get up off your couch and do something other than doom-scrolling or mindlessly playing games on your phone or computer or watching endless TV, just remember…dark times never last forever. Darkness, fear, and anger does not come from God. It comes from the enemy. The Bible tells us we will have trials and tribulations in this world, but fear not because Jesus has overcome the world. If you feel tired or defeated, ask God to come sit beside you and give you a pep talk.

There are so many things you can do to lift your spirits. I was feeling pretty bummed this week so I got my big mixing bowl and ingredients and mixed up the dough for a loaf of artisan sourdough and a batch of English Muffins to do an overnight ferment in the fridge. I will do some baking today. I may even make some sandwich bread, too. It has been SO cold here in WV. Monday night got down to -9 here. It only got up to 18° degrees here today.

Today I am grateful for my grandma and all those who taught me to cook at a young age. I can make just about anything to keep us fed…deliciously and economically.
