Intuition Overtime

My Noom lesson yesterday started delving into intuition vs. instinct and how we can train our minds and bodies to become more in tuned. If you are unsure the differences between the words, don’t feel bad. I’m a “wordie” and I wasn’t entirely sure of the absolute meaning either. Intuition is based on past experiences and is often expressed as a gut feeling. You just “know.” Instinct is a reaction… screaming at the sight of a mouse or jumping when someone scares you for example.

Gratitude

A hearty breakfast of grits, eggs, and turkey sausage is a great way to start the day on the right foot.

I know we aren’t supposed to put up our Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. But if you’ve been following me any length of time, you know I LOVE me some twinkle lights once the nights get longer. Mr. FixIt was kind enough to bring the decorations up from the basement yesterday afternoon and I started working on the tree while he was at the bowling alley last night.

A Self-Care Day

I don’t take off and go to town by myself as much as I used to. So, when I had a coffee scheduled with my gal-pals from high school, I took advantage of the occasion and made a day of it. There were eight of us at coffee and it was so good to get to see each one of them. We missed the ones who couldn’t be with us, but a good time was had by all who attended.

Knit One, Purl Two

My knitting throne!

I made a good breakfast yesterday and plopped myself in the Big Red Chair and knitted all day! What a treat! It felt weird…like I should be doing something else, but I stuck it out and got half a hat knitted. We watched old reruns and drank hot beverages and it was just so nice. It rained most of the day and it was so cozy under my blankie. I’m heading out to meet my high school girlfriends for coffee today. I’m cooking up some ideas in my head for Christmas gifts I can make. I don’t need to buy a thing because I bought those five boxes of fabric this summer and I have two tubs of yarn. I’m sure I can come up with something from all that!

Breathing a Sigh of Relief

Remember the photo I showed you last week…well, the living room is ready to be decorated for the holidays now! Whew…it took me forever!

I’m telling you, having my living space messy and disorganized drives me buggy. However, having ADHD and being somewhere on the autism spectrum keeps me from keeping it neat and tidy. When it’s out of control, it’s completely overwhelming and it’s hard to even know where to start. Once I get a “wild hair” and get into it, I can get it done. It may take me three times longer than most people, but when Mr. FixIt came home from town yesterday to a clean and peaceful house, I could see the tension of the day melt off of him, too.

A Late, Late Post

I’m usually finished with my post by 10:30PM at the latest. Last night I didn’t even start till quarter to twelve! There isn’t an ounce of creativity left in me, I’m afraid. Mr. FixIt was gone all afternoon so I tore through the house like a mad woman. And STILL didn’t get that living room done. I made progress. But I kept getting distracted by sparkly things and just couldn’t help myself.

The Continuing Saga of the Mouse Avenger

Posies by my doorstep, shining in the afternoon sun!

I needed a hearty-ish breakfast to start my day. At the same time, I’m doing that bouncy thing on the scale. I’ve lost the same two pounds twelve time in the last three weeks. I know what it is. I’m not working outside like I was all summer and you cannot expect to lose at the same rate when you aren’t burning off the calories. Also, the more weight you lose, the harder it is to lose more. That’s because your metabolism slows down. I hauling thirty pounds less fat around with me every day, so just walking the same pace I did when I was thirty pounds heavier isn’t going to cut it.

Chasing Rabbits

Show of hands…how many of you have set out to do one particular job. You get going gangbusters and you’re making some headway. Then you stop to make a cup of tea and something catches your eye up on that tippy top shelf. You know the one. It’s where old mugs and water bottles and stuff your husband refuses to part with go to die. You think, “I’d better get the step ladder and look at this a little closer. It looks like wood shavings in a spider web or something.”

It’s Always Good to Get Home

I packed and cleaned up at The Farm before I could fritter away too much time. Mr. FixIt had an appointment in town at 1:00 and he needed the truck. We’re kinda down to one vehicle at the moment. There are a few things we have to do to his before we can use it again. I got home about 20 minutes before he had to leave. He looks even better than he did when I left on Tuesday, which did my heart good. He has his sparkle back in his eyes. He still gets tired pretty easy, but he’s SO much better!

A Time to Build

Grandma nurtured all who passed through her doors. Whether it was with a cup of coffee and one of her famous Raisin-Filled Cookies for the adults or a hug and a slice of jelly bread for the youngin’s, she always welcomed you to her table with grace and cheer. She’s been gone now since 1999 and oh, how I miss her. But, I can still feel her goodness within these walls and I love having time here with my memories. I will concede, the high-speed internet is a bonus.
