Cracker Barrel for the Win…Biscuit Bennies!

It was perfect driving weather yesterday. The sun was shining with wispy white clouds. It was in the mid to high 80’s and perfect. We only had a couple of patches of bad traffic and we were so glad there were no accidents. We left home around 9:00AM and got into our hotel by 7:45PM. That’s with several stops along the way to stretch our legs and get a snack. We made sure we checked into our motel first, then headed to Cracker Barrel for supper. Mr. FixIt had fish and chips and collard greens. I love Eggs Benedict and had their version…a split biscuit with bacon, eggs, and Hollandaise sauce…a side of grits and fried apples with sweet tea. OMGosh! We are in the south, y’all…it was SO good but I swear I can feel my arteries crackling!

A Wonderful God Story

You may remember that we found “Grace”, our new-to-us camper, when we drove by the home of her owner. We had the the Big Birdhouse, but it wasn’t quite the right fit for us. When I first saw that camper in front of that beautiful white farmhouse on the hilltop over from Marshmallow Ranch, I knew in my heart it was ours. I had been praying for a solution and there it was, right in front of me. The only problem was, we needed to finance the new camper and pay it off when the Big Birdhouse sold.

Holy, Toledo!

Saying Goodbye to the Old Hybrid Camper

I can’t tell you how tired we both were last night. I stayed home and mowed while Mr. FixIt took a bunch of stuff to the salvage yard. As I was making one of my rounds, I looked over and there was the gentleman who bought the old hybrid camper coming to pick it up. It took him a couple of hours to get everything tacked down and get it ready to transport. I continued to mow and when Mr. FixIt got back, I stopped for something to eat.

Country Living Ain’t for Sissies

I can’t imagine living on an actual working farm with animals and hay fields and huge gardens. There was a time when that’s all I wanted, but I was much younger then. No, I’m grateful for the five acres we call home and even that will fall by the wayside one of these days when we need to downsize and live closer to the kids.

Another Cold Spell

My new shoes in the “Ocean Waves” pattern. I got them for the beach!

OMGosh! It’s been really chilly the last couple of days but it warms up on Wednesday. The low last night was predicted to be 39° and 36° tomorrow night. I took the quilt top to the quilter yesterday morning. I stopped for donuts on the way in case there were folks there and sure enough, the parking lot filled up right after I arrived. We all sat around and talked about the projects we’re working on and nibbled on our pastries. It was so much fun. I miss having a stitching group to get together every week. Maybe this fall I’ll organize something!

Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

Look! We have Redbud AND Dogwood!

I finished the quilt top! It was supposed to have two borders, but it was getting SO big, I decided to just do a four inch border in the same color as the white in the blocks. Honestly, I just didn’t have it in me to spend one more hour on it. Have you ever had projects like that? I had to force myself to keep at it till it was done. I have finally learned to say… “It’s good enough!” I never set out to win a blue ribbon. I just wanted to make a quilt that they will love and see that it’s not any more perfect than I am. I can’t wait to see it when it comes from the quilter!

There is Progress!!!

“There was fog after yesterday’s rain.”

OMGosh! Y’all…I got all the rows pieced together yesterday and half the borders cut! I would have continued to work on it, but bending over the pool table to work for any length of time hurts my back. I’ll have it finished on Monday and take it to the quilt shop to get it quilted. It should be ready in time for the wedding. I told Mr. FixIt that I’m NEVER going to make such a complicated pattern again. And…folks may have to get by with quilted wall hangings from now on!

A Big Ol’ WV Thunderstorm

I went out yesterday to put the top down on the Big Birdhouse and caught sight of this little dew covered spider web. There was a small black spider in the “tunnel” and he came out to see me for a few seconds before scurrying back to safety.

I had every intention of sewing on the quilt yesterday, but one thing after another kept me busy. Mr. FixIt had to go to town before lunch to get the oil changed and tires rotated on the pickup for our trip to the beach. I stayed home to catch up on things around here. I didn’t get half what I wanted done, but it was still productive. The slow laptop is hampering my progress at every turn. I’m not sure what else to do to speed it up, but I have to do something. I can’t sit around all day and only get two small projects completed.

Pink Hummingbirds, Quilts, and Otto

I started my day yesterday by finishing the ad on Marketplace for the Big Birdhouse. The work I did on the laptop payed off and, while it wasn’t what I would call fast…it did go more smoothly. Please pray God brings us the perfect buyer! This ad looks much nicer than the the first one and I included a video tour.

A Trip to The Farm

My grandma was rolling in her grave yesterday…I mowed the grass while her beloved Johnny-Jump-Ups were still in bloom. She loved every tiny precious flower that God gave her. She would NOT be happy with me!

Well, the taxes didn’t do me in this year. Neither did the banking or starting a new business in uncharted territory. Nope…what got me was Facebook Marketplace. You know we have the Big Birdhouse up for sale. We put it on Marketplace about a month ago which, in hindsight was probably a bit early. I’m kind of a novice when it comes to selling on FB. Apparently, if your item doesn’t sell in a certain amount of time, you can renew your ad but only for a certain number of times. Here’s a little tidbit of info I didn’t know…if you go in and edit your listing, it counts as one of your times. Who knew?
